What Do IT and the Business Need from Each Other?
In this interview, I discuss what IT and the Business need from each other to thrive. The relationship between the business and IT is maturing now. IT needs to have much more opportunity to help with decisions within the business. I think it is important for IT and the business to be successful that we are making decisions collectively. The business does not want to go down a path for a strategy and later find that we can’t accomplish that strategy. We don’t want to find out that the systems can’t do what we need, or we don’t have the right people or resources to engage in the business strategy.
Inviting IT to the table to make those decisions earlier on is pivotal. When the business is making decisions on where to go in the market and deciding on the opportunities in the market, IT needs to be there helping to make those decisions.
